Maktoom is situated in the very heart of Deepdale, in the newly built building adjacent to Quwwatul Education Centre, Peel Hall Street.

Maktoom operates as a voluntary group (established 2017) providing short break activities for SEND children and families, with a focus on religious needs and social development. Since March 2024 it is a registered Break-Time provider supported by Lancashire County Council.

Weekday sessions include arts and crafts, sensory play, cooking, gardening, outdoor play, exercise, sports and sensory room access. Monthly playgroup sessions feature stories, visuals, nasheeds, dhikr, arts and crafts, and sensory play with individualised staff support.

The organisation employs a SENCo for professional training. While staff may not all hold formal certifications, they possess SEND experience. Many have personal connections to SEND through their own families and demonstrate passion, compassion and stamina.

Lancashire County Council requires a minimum fee of £2 for each hour. This means you would pay £156 for 78 hours in a year. Payment options are confirmed following place approval.

Yes, all our policies are available from the office.

Security features include intercom-monitored doors, a CCTV entry system at the front entrance, CCTV cameras in each room and a security entry system throughout.

Yes, applicants should complete an application form expressing their interest.

Initial visits require parental presence to support settling. During monthly playgroup sessions, mothers join and relax in a designated area with refreshments.

Maktoom operates 30 weeks of the year. Weekdays: 4:50pm–6:40pm, Mondays and Fridays. Weekends: Sunday afternoon. Maktoom Mummies: 11am to 1pm. Term dates are available on our Policies & Procedures page.

We will invite all parents and carers for an induction during which you will be able to view the setting and resources available.

Priority admission goes to children who hold a Break-Time code. Children without a code may be considered based on availability through private funding.

Unfortunately we cannot guarantee anybody a place. Allocation of every place is dependent on an initial assessment and availability.

We aim to respond to your application within 4 weeks of submission.

Staff provide experienced, sympathetic settling support. Children are admitted in smaller groups with individual timelines. Parents may spend time with their children when feasible.

Your child will be assigned a Practitioner responsible for smooth integration and home-Maktoom continuity, ensuring secure attachments and a rich and fulfilled experience.
